Wacky Week

What a strange week we've had in the Hoy house.  Monday started off poorly when I made myself a decaf cup of coffee after I misread the package in the breakroom at work.  When I picked Lily up from daycare they "reminded" me to bring Lily's nap bag the next day which meant I FORGOT Lily's blankets for her naptime.  Tuesday the dog decided to run away at 5:20am.  Wednesday I turned my alarm off when Mike left for work.  Lily chose to sleep until almost 8:00am which meant I didn't wake up until 8:00am and that I was a crazy madwoman trying to get us both out of the house at some point before noon.

Thursday I actually got up on time but left the house without my computer.  I got to work only to turn around and head back home.  And since I hadn't made it to work before 9:00am the whole week, I figured why start now?  I stopped at Biggby and got myself an extra large red-eye to get me through the rest of the day.  Ok so maybe I was the only one who had a really strange week.

Lily had a pretty good week.  Tuesday at conferences we were told she's become quite the chatterbox in the last couple of weeks.  She also really values her personal space - aka doesn't play well with others - something we already knew.

Her new favorite word is "hot".  Everything is too hot.  Food (even when it's straight from the fridge), the bathwater (even after we've checked it for her three extra times), the oven (every time she walks by).  And she's turned every meal this week into an art project.  She can't simply eat her food - she has to play with it - especially the pieces she doesn't like.

We had an amazing weekend!  Friday I gave our entire house a complete scrub down - I even organized every single closet.  I'm sure you're thinking that's not really that amazing but I don't think our house has ever been this clean....at least since we've moved in.  We met our fabulous friends the Stuevers for dinner at Perrin Brewing Company.  Lily and Cru had some pretty good stare downs and quite the eating contest - but Lily valuing her personal space wouldn't let Cru too close.

Saturday we woke up to our first snow!  I know many of you are trying to remind me that it's not really the first snow but we were basking in the sunshine of Florida the last snowfall.  Lily and I met Aunt Erin at Hobby Lobby for some quality time scheming for Aunt Aimee and Baby Weston's baby shower.  We spent most of the remainder of the day crafting like crazy and I can't wait to post pictures of our creations.  You'll have to wait until mid-December before I'll let you peek at what we've done!

Sunday we acquired a new roommate.  So when I said earlier our house was spotless - it no longer is.  I'm pretty sure when Uncle Brayden said he was moving in he said he wasn't bringing that much stuff.  However, most of our basement and part of our garage has been filled with boxes and boxes.  I wouldn't say they are necessarily full anymore since Lily has taken it upon herself to help go through them....

Twenty Months

I know I start each "month" post out with - I can't believe we have a whatever month old - but really I just can't believe it.  Each month passes by faster than the last, leaving Mike and I shaking our heads at how quickly time is literally flying by.  And since time is flying by so fast - it seems like I have less time to update my blog.  But since I've gotten repeated reminders from Denver to update and had my girlfriend add it to my to-do list for me, I figured I better get on it.  I mean - if I can cross it off my to-do list over cleaning out my closet then I might as well.

Lily had her post-op check-up for her tubes right after Halloween.  She failed her hearing test (because she wouldn't stop screaming) but otherwise her ears looked great.  While we were waiting to see her doctor she requested pigtails and even held still long enough for a somewhat blurry picture.  And they even lasted until we arrived at daycare.

Lily is going through an extreme stage of rebellion and independence.  She thinks she can help you with anything and that she can do no wrong.  Jumping on the furniture is her newest rebel move.  It became quite apparent that I've counted to three one too many times recently when she finished the counting for me, took one final jump and landed on her behind with the most devilish grin on her face.  She's also taken up scolding the dog whenever she does something that displeases Lily.  She's got the whole finger pointing down to a science.

Thinks she's big enough to not sit in her high chair

Lily has also discovered television.  I can't decide if this is a good thing or bad thing.  On the one hand, she watched an entire Baby Einstein episode while I folded three loads of laundry and cleaned the kitchen.  On the other hand, now she points to the TV and says "please".

And even though Lily's beloved Lions lost today, she's still their number one fan (besides maybe her Daddy).

I asked Lily what a Lion says - ROAR!

I think she left her fabulous Lions bow in for one play
