#movingisfun

Our friends are starting pools on when the Hoys are moving next.  There's been disagreement at work what the over under should be.  Two years has been the pretty steady average and I'm really hoping to break that.

I've been told by many friends and family that my last post about our move was too vague and that we left everyone hanging.  So here's the story:

When we moved into our current home, we were in a whirlwind.  We'd sold what we thought at the time was our dream home extremely quickly and were left with no where to go - and may I remind you I was seven months pregnant.  So we toured numerous homes with the clock ticking before we had to be out of our house.  And we settled on Burton Woods.  Since we've moved in, we've been changing room by room making it feel more like home.  In recent months, we've been running through homes that have peaked our interest as they've come on the market.  There have been ones that I've been in love with, ones that Mike has been in love with, and ones that Lily has been in love with - but none that all three of us have been in love with.  So when our new home came on the market, and Mike insisted we see it, I was just eh.  The listing showcased the beautiful lot and river view however there were no interior photos.  In my head, no photos = disaster.  We went through the home on a Monday - we came to a mutual purchase agreement by Sunday.  Talk about crazy.

And since then, we've gone back and forth on how the transition into the new home was going to go.  At first we were going to completely update and remodel the first floor before moving in.  Then it was going to be only updating Lily's room and the living room.  Now we've packed up our entire lives and are moving in this coming weekend.  We spent hours combing Pinterest, Houzz, and the local hardware stores for ideas for our soon to be dream home.  And wouldn't you know - WE STRUGGLED.  We decided before we can knock down walls or pick out new flooring and paint, we need to live in it.  We need to figure out what we hate and what we love.  Like - could we ever love this Sparty wallpaper - in the house's main bathroom?

So I'm sitting here with mixed emotions.  Our house is hitting the market tomorrow and guess what - I'm almost sad about it.  Even though I've never really felt settled here, it's where we brought Lily home from the hospital.  It's where she learned to crawl and walk and throw spectacular tantrums.  I suppose she'll probably bring those tantrums to the new house.  She's been quite the trooper in all of the mess lately.  She helped pack up her room and all of her toys and each night when we tuck her in for bed she asks if we're going to the new house.  And that makes us grin from ear to ear.  I can't wait until we get to say, "YES!  Tomorrow IS the day we're going to the new house!"

Wedding Weekends

Our weddings this summer happened to fall on back to back weekends.

Jared & Laura
It was so much fun catching up with all of my childhood neighbors at Jared and Laura's wedding.  We shared laughter, tears, drinks, and dances.  The night was gorgeous.

Steve & Sara
We made a weekend getaway for this event.  We headed to Chicago a day early with our friends Erin and Scott and met up with friends in the city for dinner.  We had a blast catching up with our high school friends and dancing the night away to the amazing band.

A Very Frozen Birthday

I've been meaning to blog about this fabulous Frozen birthday for what seems like weeks now.  Several weekends ago Mike played hooky on a Friday and we packed up the car and headed to Chicago to celebrate our nieces (the three princesses) birthdays.  I was pretty excited to arrive because I had a fabulous new camera waiting for me (I only managed to take 250 pictures the entire weekend).  Besides being the unofficial photographer for the weekend, I was also tasked with leading up the jello shot factory - thanks Mama S for the recipe.

My sister-in-law Brandy sure knows how to throw a party - I'm excited to share all the details with you!

On the move!

Since Lily is already walking….

This is our official announcement - we're trading in this view -

For this one -

It's totally normal to buy three houses in five years right?  We're crazy right?  Out of our minds to move again?  A friend of ours said it best the other day - we've just been leasing houses until we find the right one - and we finally have.

We've been wanting to get on the water since we first got married and we are so excited to be taking on this adventure together as a family.  Mike and I can't wait to share with you the progress as we transform this house into our dream home.  We hope you follow along!
