After publishing 230 posts, sometimes I find it hard to come up with titles that aren't duplicates or subject matter that isn't the same. There's always a holiday post each year, always a poker run post, always a vacation post, always a ranting post, always something that seems similar. But I find it hard to believe that it's been almost four years since I've written a Lily Jane and Diesel Jane post. It's also hard to believe that Diesel turned eight last week. Yikes.
I feel we are so fortunate that Lily and Diesel get along so well. Diesel is truly Lily's watch dog - even when she gets sick of her, she still looks out for her. I know that if Diesel is in the yard with Lily, no one is getting between them. When Lily cries because she's scared or hurt, Diesel comes to comfort her. When Lily cries because she's not getting her way, Diesel ignores her. It's truly hilarious that the dog can differentiate.

Bucket List: Slime
We are making good progress on our bucket list. Although when I look at the calendar compared to the list, a sinking feeling settles in. One month of summer vacation is down and only one to go. And while we've crossed a few things off our list, we still have a lot left to do in a short period of time.
Summer Bucket List
Make glitter slime
Milk a cow
Plant a garden
Catch a fish
Make huge bubbles
Go golfing
Go to the zoo
Learn to water ski
Boulder Ridge
Fly a kite
Learn to tell time
Read a book
Farmer's market
Teach Diesel a new trick
Play with worms
Have a water balloon fight
Blueberry picking
Airport viewing park
Learn to flip pancakes in the air
Work on penmanship
Go bowling
Splashpad
Try one new food a week
Yesterday we woke up to cloudy skies and morning rain so Lily begged me to make slime. We had purchased the supplies a few weeks ago but I told her we had to save it for a rainy day and she held me to my word.
The first batch (hot pink) didn't go so well and we ended up throwing it away. The recipe I had found on Pinterest called for equal parts glitter glue and water plus 1.5 times liquid starch. It was a total flop. The second recipe I found called for one bottle of glue (added glitter and coloring if you preferred) and slowly mix in liquid starch until it's the consistency you want. This worked out perfectly! We still had a bottle of blue glitter glue so we made that one first. Then we moved onto clear glue and dumped an entire bottle of ultra fine purple glitter in.

Batch 1 = Fail. No matter how much we mixed it just didn't set.
Here she has no faith in me that this batch will turnout.
BUT it does!
Things we have learned making slime:
1. Remove wedding rings
2. Do not get on clothes you wish to keep
My p-p-poker face
It happens every year. And come hell or high water we're typically a part of it. The first year my parents were preoccupied and unable to attend which no doubt made it the most memorable year of them all. I have zero pictures from that year because someone went swimming with my cell phone. And his. And almost my brothers.
There have been years in between that we've been forced to miss out on...Mike's best friend happened to schedule his wedding on poker run day - they forever get to celebrate their anniversary with us. Another year poker hands were sold out and we were forced to sit and drink all day - my mother isn't quite able to recall that day. Last year we participated and then headed to a wedding...already too tipsy. This year my brother scheduled his bachelor party on the same weekend. Mike came home Saturday morning (I swear still drunk) and just kept on rolling. It's an event you put on your calendar every year and you don't let anything stand in it's way. Even if it's your nephew's first birthday (not me but I know a guy). I'd like to say that now that Lily is around we take it easy....but then I'd be lying....I mean she's right in the middle of all that action...

Bucket List: Water Balloon Fight
If you haven't seen the self filling and self tying water balloons - you must be living under a rock. And whoever invented them is likely living on top of a rock in a beautiful house loaded down with the newest of everything. Because that person is pure genius. I didn't get any photos of us filling them but the balloons were gone in a flash and made me thankful I only spent 60 seconds filling them up.
Jacqueline's Shower (Groom's Side)
I feel like we've been planning this shower forever. And now it's come and gone. Much like their wedding day will fly by as well. I'm disappointed that I didn't get many photos but here are the few that I did manage to get!
