Summer - Is that you?

It's hard to believe Mother's Day has come and gone and Memorial Day weekend is fast approaching.  Mother Nature hasn't been the nicest to us but she must have known all I wanted for Mother's Day was a sunburn.  And wouldn't you know it - I didn't get a single picture of myself with Lily on that gorgeous day?

About two weeks ago, Lily fell while running at daycare and bit through her bottom lip.  I got a phone call at work that she had fallen but she was ok.  About two hours later I got another phone call that she was inconsolable, they couldn't get her to eat or sleep, and they thought she might need stitches.  So I left work to survey the damage and found a screaming Lily with a fat lip.  None of the pictures I got do it any justice but the poor girl's bottom lip was twice it's normal size.  It didn't look bad enough to need stitches so I took her home to rest and couldn't get her to calm down myself.  After struggling for a bit, I called in reinforcements and Daddy ditched work for the afternoon and joined me.  The second he walked through the door, Lily flipped a switch and acted like nothing happened.  Over the next week or so, Lily liked to look at her boo boo in the mirror and show everyone.  It took awhile to heal, mostly because she wouldn't stop picking at it.  She has a bit of a scar as of now but since it's under her bottom lip, it's barely noticeable.

Day 2

Day 5

With the weather getting somewhat decent, we at random decided to do some landscaping.  We dropped into Home Depot yesterday and picked up a quarter pallet of sod.  Even Lily got in on the action.

Laundry Room Phase 2

For those of you who know me really well, you know our kitchen and our laundry have always been pet peeves of mine (and our deck).  Almost a year ago now, a trip to IKEA to get some organization solutions turned into phase 1 of our laundry room remodel.  Phase 2 (according to my post) was supposed to come fall 2013.  Well…fall 2013 has long come and gone so I suppose it was about time for me to get around to replacing those hideous cabinets right?

Wrong.  I'd been doing some major pinning and decided I could totally reface our cabinets myself.  And Mike said when I quit because I'd ruined them, it was going to finally force us to get new ones.  So for my birthday weekend, I asked my parents to watch Lily so I could do something exciting - like tear apart my laundry room again.  By using leftover paint and primer from tackling the wood paneling in our basement, I spent less than $40 on sand paper and new hinges.  I spent Friday sanding, priming, filling cracks, and painting.  It's amazing what you can do yourself!

See ya later awful brown that clashes with gray

Mike actually let me use power tools!
