Splash of Color

Every busy season I get antsy.  I make a list of everything I'm going to get done in what I like to call my detox time - the couple of days I take off after the 15th.  This year, the 15th fell on a Tuesday which was all too convenient for me to take Wednesday and Thursday off and have my first Friday flex day back.  My post 4/15 list always includes mani/pedi, Diesel vet appointment, deep clean the house, and a plethora of things I want to get done around the house.  One of the things on the top of my list since we've moved in is to have the living room painted.  Last year after 4/15 I called a few paint companies to get quotes.  For those of you who have seen my living room - there are lots of beams, angles, and high ceilings - all obstacles I wasn't really interested in doing myself.  Until I saw how much it cost to have it painted.  So here we are one year later and the awful yellow color was still eating at me - as well as the water spot from when our roof leaked.

I'd grabbed some paint samples on one our trips recent trips to Home Depot and thrown them up on the wall to see what we liked.  Of course Mike and I completely disagreed on what color to go with so I made what I like to call an executive decision and went with my favorite.  I picked the darker one.

On one of the Sundays before the 15th, I made Mike accompany me to Home Depot to pick up all of the paint supplies I'd need so come April 16, I'd be ready to hit the ground running.  I took the obligatory before pictures and let the can of paint sit in the corner.

My husband however couldn't just let it sit in the corner.  One night the week before the 15th, I came home from work with everything completely off my plate, full of energy, bouncing off the walls because I was SO CLOSE to being done.  Mike convinced me to conquer the world (ok just paint the living room).  On a mission not to have a half painted room for more than two days, I cut all of the trim work - I'll brag because I love doing it freehand - and Mike rolled everything else.  And now I can finally say - I LOVE OUR LIVING ROOM.  What can I paint next???
