It’s done. It’s
happened. We’re in the new house! I wish I’d taken more pictures during the move
but for some reason I was a little distracted.
And I’ve been getting bugged to update but my poor computer is still in
the box sitting in the middle of the kitchen.
Because why wouldn’t it be? So
here’s a quick update with photos I was able to get off my phone.
Much to our surprise, the previous owners were out of the
house on Friday night and we were able to get into the house on Saturday
morning. So bright and early we were up
and moving. I ran over to the house with
Mike’s parents and got busy painting Lily’s room while Mike and Ray Ray (Lily’s
new nickname for Uncle Ray), picked up the U-Haul and got busy loading up the old
house. By Sunday, my kitchen was
organized, our clothes were hung up in the closets, food was in the pantry, the
underground dog fence was working, and Lily’s swing was hanging from a tree in
our new backyard. Monday, twenty-two
buyers traipsed through our old house followed by four more on Tuesday. By Tuesday night we had seven offers in hand –
all above and beyond our asking price – and by Wednesday morning, we had a
signed purchase agreement and closing date for the end of September.
Lily has been an angel through the whole process. She is truly in love with the new house which
has helped us confirm this was the right decision for our family. As she was helping unpack her toys, she kept
hugging them and telling them she missed them.
And when we had to stop over to the old house to pick up a couple of
things last week, she screamed when we turned down the street. She was adamant that she did not want to go
to the “old house” and that I must take her to the “new house” – she wouldn’t
even get out of the car.
We couldn’t be more thankful to everyone who helped us move,
pack, unpack, clean, paint, fed us, entertained Lily, etc. So now the real process of transforming our
house has begun. I promise to post again
this weekend with photos of the new house and some of our small improvements.
