Our house has been in absolute total chaos the last several weeks. The basement has been slowly moving along. We should be ready for paint next week and then we are at the mercy of our painter's schedule. Last on that list will be carpet and the rest of the bathroom and we will finally have a usable lower level space. I am so excited to be shipping all of Lily's toys out of sight down there.
Our main floor has also been carpet-less for the past three or four weeks. We've been living in complete disarray but making the best of it. So as you can imagine, I was over the moon when the carpet place called to say they could get all of the main floor bedrooms and family room carpet installed while I was home on PTO this week. There is really nothing better than the smell of new carpet and the feeling of squishing it between your toes.

When we replace the carpet in 30 years, we'll have beautiful artwork. |

Having carpet installed really ties together a room. You don’t realize just how important it is until you don’t have it anymore. It’s especially rough in the winter months – your feet just freeze up. I love how the colour of the carpeting goes with the wall’s paint – with the natural light, it really expands the living room.

My wife loves the delay between ordering carpet and having it installed. She manages to find lots of jobs for me during that time. She tells me it only makes sense to do things like construction projects or painting before the carpet is installed. I know she is right, but I sure hate that long honey do list!
