Day 1
Our first full day on the island was Sunday. The time change had us all up around 4:30am Hawaii time which is 10:30am Michigan time. So what else would we do but go grab breakfast at 7:00am and watch the Lions play? Mike and I discovered Kalapaki Joe's the last time we were here. It's a bar/restaurant specifically designed for tourists seeking mainland sports. While it was afternoon back home, we were cheering on the Lions over bloody mary's and eggs and bacon.
We thought it would be a good idea for the women to do some grocery shopping and leave the boys and Lily to watch the rest of the game. Let's just say the first day in Hawaii was a good one.....Mike went swimming with his phone....need I say more?
We spent Monday lounging by the pool....with a few less adult beverages than the day before. We made a point to return to Brenneke's Beach Broiler for their happy hour. Pork nachos and pitchers of margaritas is one of the reasons we endured a half a day's travel. After happy hour we walked across the street to the public beach to watch the sun set.
Day 3
One of our favorite things to do when we come to Hawaii is do a Napali Coast tour. More than half the island of Kauai is inaccessible by car. You can only see the Napali Coast by air, water, or if you're really adventurous hiking in. We choose to see it by water each time we visit and it never gets old. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it), those under the age of two aren't allowed on the tour. So we left Lily in the care of a babysitter and ventured out on the beautiful Southern Star catamaran for the evening.
Day 4
Crazy Uncle Brayden and Aunt Cathy decided it would be a good idea to jump out of a plane. So we all got up early and drove down to the Port Allen Airstrip (literally a shack by the ocean) and watched these two adrenaline junkies leap out of a plane.
More to come later!
