Apples Apples Apples

Fall in Michigan can certainly be a crapshoot.  I'm sitting here now looking at the wind blowing the rain sideways across the river and leaves swirling about and shiver thinking that last week we were apple picking in shorts and flip flops.  I can't complain though - fall is truly one of my favorite seasons and it's easy to forgot most states don't get to experience the true beauty of the season.

Last weekend we visited a local orchard for some apple picking, cider and donuts.  Mike and I have been going here for years, typically just for the donuts, but when my brother called and said they were actually going to pick apples, we thought Lily would love it.  And it couldn't have been a more beautiful fall Sunday - 78 degrees and clear blue skies.

A week later we'd barely made a dent in our pickings - even with each of us eating at least one apple a day.  Since my husband insisted we get our money's worth and fill our bag to the top, I turned to Pinterest in search of apple recipes.

Friday Lily and I spent the day washing, peeling, coring, and slicing apples.  We made apple chips, applesauce, and apple crisp.  My little one sure loves to cook!
