Project: Master Bath

We are no where near being done with the transformation of this room but when the toilet started going crazy on us, we had no choice but to replace it.  And it just so happened that we had an extra toilet sitting around from our last bathroom fiasco.  So when Mike ripped the toilet out and I told him I was just going to quick take off the wallpaper and paint, he just shook his head and left me to torture myself.

I can happily say that after this project, we've restored our faith in our DIY abilities.  I spent an entire Friday scraping away the floral wallpaper.

I was wary at first but when the paper started peeling off in almost full sheets with the adhesive still attached, I did a happy dance.

See ya later toilet #2

On Saturday, I scrubbed off the remaining adhesive residue, patched some large holes and tried my hand at skim coating over the uneven drywall.  That evening Mike helped me sand it even (mostly) and put on a thick coat of primer.

Two of my best helpers

Pretending we are drywallers

Primer on - brighter already!

Sunday morning I hopped out of bed to roll on a coat of paint, Mike installed our new toilet, and VOILA! bathroom makeover complete.  For now.

Nothing like a new toilet

Still left on our long-term to-do list:
Replace all of the cream tile
Paint the trim white
Replace the gold fixtures
Either paint the cabinets or replace
Potentially add another sink
Replace the counter top

But for now, we're just happy we have one working bathroom on the main floor again.  Although, Lily seemed to love running to the basement whenever she needed a toilet.  Hopefully the toilet curse doesn't spread to that one….
